Editorial remarks, Dec. 7, 2015

I know I am probably not supposed to use this blog as a forum to make critiques of society, but I can’t help myself today.

I have been reflecting on the latest gun massacre in the U.S. last week…..

I read this on the internet and took a screenshot of it….I was not sure if I would share it, but after having listened to the President of the U. S. discussing yet another “incident”. In 2014 there were 497 such incidents…..

Four Hundred and Ninety-Seven!!!! and that is in 2014!!! Unbelievable…..

So ponder this:

Sometime you gotta wonder.  Sigh…..

While it is unfortunate that events like these do happen, people who wish to have firearms to commit violent crimes will get them easily regardless of any gun control regulations. In my honest opinion, it has zero effect. If ISIS soldiers can get their hands on american weapons and use them against the US forces, I’m sure a person living in the states can get their hands on firearms, if they really want to.

9/10 of these attacks are planned, so spur of the moment firearm purchases have no effect on it. I think the general mentality, behaviours and way of life of the people is what influences these events. Prohibited/restricted firearms can be gotten fairly easily in Canada ( even with the rigorous gun control we have) , yet there are barely any of these events.

Of course, in the tradition of the chicken and the egg, which comes first: mentality (and behaviour/way of life) or opportunity? (BTW, most of our illegal weapons originate from the other side of the border)
      Thanks for the thoughts,
